Padlocking your luggage or suitcase is a good idea in todays paranoid travel world, with terrorist threats and people being asked to take stuff on board. Ok, so customs officers can open padlocks and bag locks in an instant, but for those with other intentions for your bag, a padlock is a deterrent, a zip padlock says..."there are easier bags". Some argue that a locked zip shows that it is a bag worth stealing, and anyone wanting to, would just take the whole bag. This maybe true, but unless the train, bus or coach door is open to get clear away, picking the pockets is not an option if is locked with a small but decent brass or combination lock.
